Snuggled up and settled in

Bon soir, mes amis,

I'm writing this from beneath my fluffy purple comforter, completely exhausted from these past few days. I haven't posted since I've arrived in Grenoble, because there hasn't been too much to share. I've been getting into the groove of living with my host family and exploring the city with my API friends. Classes don't start until tomorrow, so really there hasn't been too much to share until now. I did have a few dinners with my families french friends and those were interesting in their own right, but not quite bloggable.

Before I begin sharing today's adventures, I share with you a collage of my beautiful room and the view! (I won't post pictures of the entire house here, refer to my facebook if you'd like a more detailed tour).

I feel so blessed to have such a lovely home for three months! My family is very nice and takes very good care of me also. Not to mention we have 3 very affectionate cats. Now, onward to my adventures!

The day started off by taking the 3-hour placement test. Mon dieu! I didn't expect so much effort for a test without a grade. I felt like my brain was leaking out of my ears when I left the room. The test definitely drained my energy, and I half considered going home and passing out for a few hours, but the weather was too beautiful to sleep! After meeting some new friends, eating lunch, and watching a presentation on volunteering, a few friends and I made plans to hike the Bastille.

I visited the Bastille the other day and rode up to the top in the giant glass spheres! Too bad I forgot my camera. The hike, however, was so much better. I love nature, fresh air, and moderate exercise so hiking the winding paths between historical ruins was a piece of heaven for me. The view was breathtaking!
Tsugumi and I hiked most of the way up together, but we ran into Peter, Matt, and Jasmine near the top.
I donned my Superman t-shirt to help me rise to the occasion of hiking the steep paths, and did a little yoga pose to celebrate reaching the top!
It was an absolutely perfect day! I'm so glad I'm getting to experience such amazing things during my time here in France. I can't wait to see what else is in store. With that, I will leave you with another photo of the beautiful Alpine view.
