Sorry about the mini hiatus. It's been a crazy few week here in Grand Rapids. (By crazy I mean final exam crunch time, massive floods, moving out of the dorms, and some personal life drama). At long last things have settled down enough for me to start moving forward with the study abroad process.
I last blogged about hidden fees and being prepared to "foot the bill" for your trip ahead of time, even if you are expecting financial aid. Thank goodness everything worked out and I have my en-avance fees settled, but I really encourage you to read the fine print when preparing for your own study abroad! Now that I'm all set on that front, I've been looking into flight information!
This is perhaps the most exciting time for me so far in pre-journey prep. Somehow, seeing flight dates, times, and ticket prices makes this experience all the more real for me. Honestly, I had to take a minute time-out to jump for joy when I started thinking about it!
Chances are, flight is something you will have to pay for yourself, and be reimbursed by any financial aid later on. (It's hard to offer money advice, because everyone has a different financial situation and program set-up, so keep in mind all this information is tailored to my personal experience). That being said, round-trips across the world are pretty expensive. Try to book your flight ahead of time, and use a site that can help you compare flight costs. Your study abroad office might have recommendations for you, but I am using studentuniverse.com! Check it out!

| Eeeep! This is becoming all too real ! |
I can't wait to post pictures of me holding these tickets <3
Now, be sure to pay attention to flight dates, times, and places! Abroad programs often have orientations, and specific times that you need to arrive at your destination to be picked up. In my case, my orientation is in Paris, then I take a train to Grenoble.
I really CANNOT WAIT everyone!
Also, I'm sorry if this information isn't very helpful, or rather incomplete. I'm learning as I go! I promise I'm much better at giving packing advice. ;)
